The explanations were very clear, and the itinerary was perfect, balancing visits to exceptional sites with local traditions. Being in a small group was a real advantage. Day 1 our tour guide was Goncalves who was very informative, entertaining and gave us adequate time in each place we visited, plus a steady, safe driver. We never had the feeling of being rushed. He kept a close eye on the Spot Azores App and adjusted our tour slightly so that we got to see everything under the best conditions. The mini-bus was in excellent condition, clean and comfortable. I believe it is worth every euro to have a small group tour as there is no waiting around for the stragglers as on large coaches, one gets to meet fellow travellers and sitting together over lunch was a very friendly affair. The food cooked in the Furnas was excellent, served at Tony's Restaurant, bright, busy with great service. Wine was good too. The 2nd Day our guide was Pedro, a charming man who also was a volunteer to aid the feral cat population, which he fed at every stop. As cat lovers my husband and I found this a lovely thing, and while we went to visit whatever site, he quietly checked on the cats. We were with a new group, all different nationalities and all very nice to tour with. Pedro is a very informative and helpful guide taking us to all the main attractions and some of the lesser known, each time without feeling hurried. At the end of 2 days we felt we had seen so much, had a good idea of what Sao Miguel was all about, and were delighted with everything we saw and did on this stunningly beautiful island. The tour was excellent — a wonderful way to explore São Miguel with a small, intimate group. The itinerary and pacing were spot-on throughout the day. Our guide, Gonçalo, was truly outstanding — knowledgeable, personable and patient. He had a fantastic eye for pointing out key sites and made sure we didn't miss the best spots and views. He was also incredibly helpful with photos, and his warm energy, humor and personal anecdotes made the experience all the more memorable. We especially appreciated his thoughtfulness at the end of the day — waiting for us at the hotel during drop-off, and ensuring we could collect our belongings before heading into Ponta Delgada for the evening. A lovely personal touch that didn't go unnoticed. Highly recommend this tour!
